THEORETICAL THURSDAY!! #fantasy

As I’m gearing up for the Twin Cities Book Festival this Saturday, Oct 17th, (it’s FREE you should come!!) I thought I’d make this week’s Theoretical Thursday about book settings. In particular, I’m going to focus on some of the most famous fantasy books.

So here it is:

If you had to choose, which of the following book settings would you live in? a) Middle Earth from The Lord of the Rings  b) Earthesea by Ursula K. Le Guin or c) Pern from the Dragonriders of Pern series. ((If you’re not sure what these places look like, do a quick internet search!))

Keep in mind, you would also have to deal with any perils from these worlds, so choose wisely! 🙂

Possibly Pern post-rediscovery of technology. Pale people are not viewed with favor in the main setting of the Earthsea books (despite the whitewashing of the adaptations.) And Middleearth is all farming all the time, except when war.

i’ll go with middle earth, cuz i like hobbits, arrow-slinging elves, and talking/walking trees. plus, there’s magic, of course. as far as perils, i have faith i could deal w/ whatever comes along.
