Deadlines: oh crap.

clock

We’ve all faced them: deadlines. The question becomes, how do you deal with them? Are you someone who does everything right away? Do you find you unrealistically give yourself deadlines you can’t possibly commit to? Do you wait until the last minute and then cram everything together?

With writing, I’ve found a lot of people like to wait until they are “inspired”. But what if you don’t have time for that? What if you need to get some pages done because people are waiting to read them?

Well, the best thing is not to panic, which of course sends me into immediate worry-induced-whirlwinds. 😉 Once my brain stops spinning, I go into what I like to term “don’t-talk-to-me-because-I’m-focused-and-will-destroy-you-if-you-bother-me” mode. A little rough around the edges, but the work gets done. 🙂

So how do YOU get yourself to slow down and get the work done without ACTUALLY slowing down, since you don’t have time to?
